Each one has its advantages, and it is certainly up to the potential buyer which way they wish to go.

Many people would ask why you should start a hotel franchise in the first place. Well, the hotel industry is growing. In fact, in 2006, hotel revenues totaled over $133 billion with roughly 52% of gross hotel operating profit margins. That was excluding beverage and food options, having a lager ROI potential than the vast majority of businesses. And since the 1990s, profits and revenue have almost doubled. So as you can see, franchise hotel ownership has high potential as a wealth-building asset as well.
Starting a new business is always daunting and time consuming, however choosing a company that has created many successful businesses and that has a very strong track record can help quite a bit. But why Choice Hotels do you ask? They simply deliver business to your franchise. Their reservations system ended up netting their franchises a total of $2 billion dollars just in 2007. Coupled with their national marketing schemes and sales force, customers will begin to show up on your front doorstep in no time. Some very compelling reasons to become a franchisee of Choice Hotels:

Amidst recent economic turbulence, there is at least one thing that has made American citizens grin a little in the last month or two, and that is the falling price of gas. Though the reasons for the sudden decline in gasoline prices around the country are probably plentiful and complicated, the change has certainly been felt and appreciated by the American people. In July, gas prices hit their all-time high, rising well above $4/gal and approaching the unheard-of $5 mark, but now, only three short months later, prices have fallen dramatically, averaging less than $3/gal across the country and, in some places, dropping to less than $2.50, a price that few believed we would ever see again.
Of course, the fact that gas prices are once more falling to reasonable levels cannot fully assuage the national tension built by rising food prices, a shrinking stock market, increasing unemployment, and all else that comes with a recession. People are still very concerned with saving dollars and cents wherever possible, even in business, and there are few better ways to save money in business than by running your own home based business. Those who work from home save on overhead costs, staff expenses, the cost of fuel and other commute needs, and even simply the time it would take to travel to and from the office. There are many business opportunities for entrepreneurs looking to work more efficiently and cheaply from home, and here are just a few examples.
