Why Buy a Franchise – Proven System & Track Record
So, you have been considering a business of your own and you are tired of working for someone else, or perhaps a company that does not fully appreciate your talents. Well, you are not alone, in fact, this is the number one reason people go into business for themselves.
Now, you might have been looking into buying a business through a business broker and checking out the small business opportunities in your area? Maybe you have been looking around on the Internet for a Biz-Op that you can run out of your home. But, I’d like to be so bold as to recommend that you take a look at the franchising model.
There is a big difference from buying a used small business from a local entrepreneur or even through a business broker, than there is if you were to buy a franchise from a company with a strong brand name a successful track record. After all, when you buy a franchise you have all the mistakes built out of the business and 100s or 1000s of examples of that business model up and running successfully.
When looking into a franchise business opportunity, I often recommend that franchise buyers to give more weight to franchise systems that have over 100 franchises, regional brand name recognition in your area, and have very few failures. I also recommend that a prospective franchisees do not underestimate the importance of a long-standing franchise system, that has been successful for a decade or more and thus, has had time to work out all the bugs and has gone through it’s growing pains.
Did you know that only 1 in 5 franchisors make in the first five years of franchising? This is quite serious, and you need to know that the franchisor that you have paid your franchise fees to and signed a long-term contract with will not go out of business and leave you holding the bag. So, when shopping for a franchise business opportunity for sale make sure they have a proven business model with a good strong track record. Think on this.
